Discussion

This was a rectangular spit, located just to the north of Grubenhaus 012AC09505, to define the relationship between a sequence of enclosure ditches. The material removed was a snady loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3) with chalk inclusions (<10cm in diameter). Four ditches (012AC00033, 012AC00035, 012AC00036 and 012AC07211, and a pit (012AC00068), were defined.
