Discussion

This spit was located near the south-easten limit of the area, and was attempting to define a number of ditches in the immediate area. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). Further definition was required, and spits 012AC00012, 012AC00018 and 012AC00073 were subsequently excavated. All of the finds (apart from a single oyster shell) were either Medieval or modern in date. No animal bones were found.
