Discussion

This spit was excavated to define the relationships between ditches 012AC07211, 012AC00035 and 012AC09502, at their point of intersection. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 3/3). When it was established that 012AC09502 cut the northernmost ditch 012AC07211, a further spit (012AC00093) was taken down across the two southern ditches, which became in effect a box section.
