Discussion
This was a triangular spit, excavated to define the sequence of enclosure
ditches turning to the north-west at this point. The material removed was
a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). Although the southern edge
of the sequence was defined, further spits (012AC00005,
012AC00075
and the northern part of 012AC00019)
were required to define the individual ditches. Three Medieval sherds were
found, along with an ?Anglian knife and a single Anglian pot sherd, two
iron nails and a Roman coin (an Antoninianus of Claudius II, AD268-270).
