Discussion

After the machine stripping, some cleaning of the surface was required. This was primarily over the buried soil deposit 012AG00009, although the finds were lifted using this spit number, as well as spit number 012AG00002. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/2), initially shovelled and the trowelled back.

The objects were almost exclusively later Roman pot sherds (68), although 3 ?brick/tile fragments and 3 iron nails were also found.
