Discussion

This was the second of three spits (with 012AG00021 and 012AG00024) in what became a box section down through the deposits in central part of the trench. The material removed was generally a sandy clay loam (Munsell 10YR 4/3). Due to the depth of material removed (50cm), it was seen in section that this spit comprised of layer 012AG00030 at the top, layer 012AG00031 in the centre, layer 012AG00032 towards the bottom, as well as the top half of layer 012AG00033. Finds included 20 flint tools or fragments, as well as a number of late Roman pot sherds.
