Discussion

This forked and shovelled spit was located to the south of machine trench 012AG00001, and was located right at the southern edge of the 1995 excavations. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). There were no finds and no features were defined, so a further spit (012AG00057) was removed.
