Discussion

This spit was located to the south of spit 012AG00022 and to the east of spit 012AG00038. Its removal helped to define part of surface 012AG00044. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell 10YR 4/4) with 30% angular chalk inclusions (up to 10cm in diameter). Seven sherds of later Roman pot were found, along with an iron nail and a sherd of samian ware.
