Discussion

This spit was excavated in an attempt to define features to the south of initial machine trench 012AG00001, and was located right at the southern edge of the 1995 excavations. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). There were no finds. Completely unexpectedly, a well cone (012AG00069) was defined.
