Discussion

This spit was excavated to define the termini of three north-south aligned ditches (012AC00335, 012AC00337 and 012AC00356). The material removed was a compact sandy clay loam (Munsell 10YR 4/3), and contained a higher chalk inclusion rate than much of the surrounding material. Most of the objects found appeared between ditches 012AC00335 and 012AC00337, while the animal bone was found above ditch 012AC00356.
