Discussion

This layer of dark sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4), was trowelled in 1986, after the machine had cut in to this deposit. It contained numerous chalk gravel and occasional local flint inclusions throughout. Animal burrowing was also evident. The only objects found were a calcite fragment and a group of Anglian pot sherds.
