Discussion

This was the number assigned to the first cleaning of the 1988 season, removing the contaminated layer (caused by frost-thaw action and weed growth). The material removed varied considerably in texture, colour and soil type. Finds included part of a Anglian copper ally wrist clasp, a blue annular glass bead (type A1a), as well as a number of flint artefacts (109).
