Discussion

This was one of seven gridded spits (with 002CB00012, 002CB00021, 002CB00024, 002CB00038, 002CB00039 and 002CB00040), excavated (by trowel in 1986) to clean the buried soils on the southern edge of the gravel fan. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3). It was located to the south-east of trench 2L. The spit defined a number of post holes, including part of post hole structure 002CB02577.
