Discussion

This was the first cleaning spit under the machine clearance to the east of the medieval headland. The removal of this material generally defined all of the features in the eastern half of this area, although a number of further spits were required in the north-eastern quadrant. Once again (as with spits 002DB00001 above and 002DB00002 to the west) , a high density of finds and animal bones was encountered.
