Discussion

This was a spit across the base of a buried soil, to the east of the Medieval headland. The material removed was a silty sand (Munsell colour 10YR 4/4). The area was mottled due to animal burrowing and root disturbance. Finds included an Anglian bone comb fragment and Niedermendig lava.
