Discussion
This was a cleaning spit to define features in the north-eastern quadrant
of area 2DB (the last of four, beneath 002DB00144).
The material removed (by shovel0scraping and then trowelling) was a sandy
loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4). No 3-dimensional points have been retrieved
for the finds from this spit. Three Grubenhäuser (002DB00173,
002DB00232
and 002DB00289) were finally defined
by the removal of this material, as well as 12 pits in a pit alignment
(002DB00387) , which continued west
as 002DA00010 and eastwards to the stream
channel as 002CA00165 and 002CA01136..
