Discussion

This was the second removal of the material from the Medieval headland area (the first having been assigned as a specific layer of material 002DB00006). The material removed was a sandy silt (Munsell colour 7.5YR 4/4), with up to 30% chalk inclusions, which varied from 0.5 to 11cm in diameter. Finds clustered in two areas, to the north and particularly in the south of the excavated area, although no feature was ever found to account for this grouping.
