Discussion

This spit was excavated to the north-west of the gully complex 002CA01016 and the north of Grubenhaus 002CA01040, to test for the presence of features. It was immediately to the north of spit 002CA01044. The material removed was a sandy silt (Munsell colour 7.5YR 4/4). There was much evidence of animal burrowing, and gravel patches were noted in places. Finds included a single Anglian pot sherd. No other features were defined.
