Discussion

This was a cleaning spit across the previously unexcavated part of trench 2R. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4). Finds included a sherd from an Iron Age biconical bowl, as well as later Romano-British and Anglian sherds. The spit defined the southern half of Grubenhaus 002CA07000, part of ditch 002CA00118 and the dog skeleton 002CA00686.
