Discussion

Fifth spit taken over the ?prehistoric buried soil situated to the west of Grubenhaus 002CA00983 and the excavated stream channel segment 002CA00982. Natural chalk gravel and patches of hillwash are now increasing in frequency, and it is believed that this spit marks the actual base of the buried soil. There was extensive animal action in this area. This spit contained fewer finds than any of the others, and included 5 worked flint flakes. Only 3 animal bones were recovered, all cattle.
