Discussion

This was a cleaning spit over an area beneath the buried soil 002CA00080 and to the east of the gully complex 002CA01128. It was the initial clean of the 1989 excavation season in this area. The material removed was generally a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/4), although in the south the spit covered part of the stream channel deposits. The finds density was quite high, with some clustering around Grubenhaus 002CA01042 and the pit alignment 002CA01136.
