Discussion

This spit was removed by machine, and was located just to the south of structure 012AF07215. The material removed consisted of  a loamy sand (Munsell colour 10YR 4/4) with 10-15% chalk inclusions. No finds were recovered. The removal of this material revealed a burnt area (012AF00138), associated with lead sheet and a copper alloy strip, immediately to the south of the structure
