Discussion

This spit was excavated (by shovel-scraping) to remove a slight mound of hillwash, located to the south of structure 012AF07215. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/3). It slightly overlapped with spit 012AF00137 to the west. Finds were mostly later Roman pot sherds, although an iron nail and some ?brick/tile fragments were also recovered.
