Discussion

This was a layer of sandy redeposited natural (Munsell colour 10YR 4/4) mixed with chalk rubble. It was sealed by 2 spits (012AF00149 and 012AF00150), extending out to the north from the wall line of structure 012AF07215. They were excavated to test for the presence of structural material relating to the terracing of the area, either prior to, or as a part of the construction phase of the structure. The only find was a late Romano-British pot sherd. No further excavation took place.
