Discussion

This was a spit over an area of buried soil, located in the south-western corner of area 2CB, to the east of the stream channel. It consisted of a sandy loam, with chalk inclusions throughout, although the density of the inclusions decreased with depth. A large number of finds were recovered, ranging in date from the Neolithic to the Anglian period. The same deposit was excavated to the west as 002CA00890.
