Discussion

This was the northernmost of five spits (with 002CA00771, 002CA00772, 002CA00773 and 002CA00774) removing the last remaining layers of the loamy buried soil 002CA00080, at the beginning of the 1988 excavation season. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 5/4). There is no plot of the finds due to a problem with the three-dimensional recording system. Finds included one Neolithic pot sherd, one Bronze Age sherd, three Romano-British sherds and three Anglian sherds. In common with almost every spit taken across the buried soil deposit 002CA00080, cattle bones again represented the most numerous animal species (69%).
