Discussion

This was a dark brown (Munsell colour 10YR 2/2) material, located only in the north-western corner of the rectangular area excavated to accomodate the flotation sump. It contained a number of finds, although detailed examination indicated that this deposit was the result of the previous season's (1990) flotation sump.
