Discussion

This was one of five layers (with 011BD01583, 011BD01584, 011BD01585 and 011BD01684) in an excavated section to the west of the spring pool. This deposit was a dark (Munsell colour 10YR 4/1) loamy clay with a high (60%) chalk gravel content. There were no objects found, although twenty-four animal bones were recovered (14 cattle, 8 sheep/goat, 1 horse and 1 goose).
