Group of Short Aligned Slots

Phasing

Apart from one slot (012AD05786) which contained a single Anglian sherd, all of the material recovered from these slots was Roman in date.

Discussion

This is one of a number of features which have the same alignment Click here to see a colour coded plan of the different alignments of features, following the line of the dry valley in a NNW-SSE orientation. This master was assigned to 15 of these slots, although they are all also dealt with as individual entries in the catalogue. The significance of these features is not yet fully understood, although the longer features appear to relate to a form of spatial control of the dry valley.
