Discussion

This was the final spit excavated in the triangular section (011CE00533 and 011CE00571) across the enclosure ditches, in the southern central part of area 11CE. The material removed was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). The spit was excavated to define the relationship between north-south aligned ditch 011CE00770 and east-west aligned ditch 011CE00512. Although this was difficult to establish, it is probable that 011CE00770 was the later event. All of the finds were attributed to the underlying features.
