Discussion

This was the number issued to cover the removal of the northermost baulk in the waterlogged area to the west of the spring. The area had been excavated in three segments in 1990, and it was felt that the removal of these baulks would allow the maximum recovery of potential waterlogged material. The material removed was a dark (Munsell colour varying from10YR 3/3 to 10YR 3/1) sandy clay in the east and a lighter (Munsell colour varying from 10YR 4/4 to 10YR 4/2) loamy sand in the west. No finds were recovered.
