Discussion

This was a cleaning spit (beneath 011AD00023, 011AD00025 and 011AD00033) located in the central-southern part of area 11AD, excavated by shovel-scraping, then trowelling, in order to define features. The material removed varied from a loamy sand to a sandy loam (Munsell colour generally 10YR 4/3). There were two clusters of finds, one in the west and one in the east. Finds included an Anglian glass bead (type A1a) and a perforated copper alloy strip. There was a high density of animal bone finds.
