Discussion

This was a layer of blue-black (Munsell colour varies from 10YR 3/4 to darker 10YR shades) silty clay, located to the south-west of the spring pool. There were 5% chalk inclusions, mostly smaller than 2cm in diameter, as well as charcoal flecking throughout. Only one sherd of pottery was found, a fragment of flint-tempered ware. Most of the animal bones were small and fragmentary. This layer appeared to be contiguos with the sandier layer (011AD00037) to the west (no stratigraphic relationship was established).
