Discussion

This was a layer of rounded chalk pebbles up to 6cm in diameter, although the majority were much smaller. It is believed to be part of a compacted chalk surface, which formed around the well 011AD07152. It was revealed by the removal of spit 011AD00009, and it sealed a blue-gray clay layer 011AD00014. The only find was a single sherd of Romano-British pottery.
