Discussion

This was the initial cleaning spit of the 1988 excavation season, across what remained of the buried soil deposit 002CA00081. It also covered a segment of the stream channel deposits.The material removed was generally a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/4). A problem was encountered with the three-dimensional recording system, so only two of the objects are plotted in the distribution plan above. A higher density of animal bones were present in this layer, indicating that the bottom of the buried soil had been reached (as it had contained very little animal bone).
