Discussion

This spit was excavated to define the sequence of 4 ditches; 012AD00768, 012AD00775, 012AD00795 and 012AD00797. Although covering all of these ditches, the majority of the finds were from the eastern ditches (012AD00775 and 012AD00795). The material removed was generally a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/2), with less than 5% chalk inclusions. Both daub and charcoal flecking were noted.
