Discussion

This was a small, rectangular spit, excavated to define an area where 3 ditches intersected. Although the stone dump above ditch 012AD01006 was defined, a further spit (012AD00595) was necessary to clearly define the ditch edges. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/2) with 10% chalk inclusions. No daub or charcoal flecking was noted.
