Discussion

This spit was excavated to define the east-west return of the ditches in the north-western corner of area 12AD. The spit was an unusual shape, as it used the boundaries of already defined ditches as its limits. The ditches 012AD07219, 012AD08171 and 012AD08230 were defined. The material removed was a medium sandy loam (on average, Munsell colour 10YR 4/3, although substantial parts of 10YR 4/4). Finds included an Anglian iron latchlifter.
