Discussion

This was the second of two small, rectangular spits, excavated to define an area where 2 ditches (012AD00511 and 012AD01006) and a pit (012AD00548) intersected. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/2) with 5% chalk inclusions. Unlike spit 012AD00540 above, both daub and charcoal flecking were noted.
