Discussion

This sub-rectangular spit was excavated to define the features cut into the chalk on the central western side of the dry valley. Further definition was required, and spit 012AD05260 was subsequently removed. The material wasa sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). No daub or charcoal flecking was noted. Finds were mainly of later Roman pottery, although a fragment of bone comb was also present.
