Discussion

This short, north-south oriented ditch segment had suffered quite severe plough truncation. Even so, it did not appear to continue in either direction. It thus bears a similarity to a number of of similar slots in the enclosure system to the west, and may be a form of subdivision within the larger enclosure. The fill was a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/3) with 30% chalk inclusions. No charcoal flecking was noted, the only finds being a fragment of daub and small fragments of animal bone.

The ditch was cut into chalk, with a flat-based V profile (although almost a U profile on the eastern side).
