Pit
Phasing
Although containing only (4) late Romano-British sherds, also found was
a fragment of fired clay loomweight, indicating an Anglian date for this
feature. It was sealed by 012AD08004
and cut through feature 012AD08517.

Discussion
Although only a small part of the feature was excavated, it was believed
to be part of a large, deep pit. The fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour
10YR 4/3), with chalk inclusions 5-10% (0.5-4cm in diameter). No daub or
charcoal fleckinf were noted.
The pit was cut through feature 012AD08517
into sand & gravel, with a V-shaped profile. (The base may have been
flat, but not enough of the feature was excavated to ascertain this).
