Discussion
The spit was excavated to define the line of the ditch (012AD00511)
just to the north of pebble surface 012AD01005.
The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/2), with 5%
chalk inclusions. No daub or charcoal flecking was noted. In the event,
the ditch and a small depression filled with the same material (012AD00548)
were defined.
