Discussion

The fill of the ditch was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) containing 25% chalk inclusions. Only five objects were recovered, three of which were late Roman potsherds. Possibly contemporary with ditch 012AD07223, which apparently butts onto this ditch from the south. The relationship with enclosure 012AD05026 was not established. This ditch cut through possible Grubenhaus 012AD07058 and through quarry pit 012AD05156. The ditch was cut into hillwash and had a U-shaped profile.
