Pit

Phasing

There were no finds from the pit, although some may have erroneously been lifted under the ditch number 012AC00134, which the pit cut. However, none appear in the area of the pit when three-dimensionally plotted. The stratigraphic relationship indicates an Anglian or later date for the pit.

Discussion

A sub-ovate shaped pit cutting ditch 012AC00135. It was one of a number of pits cutting the ditch. No section drawing was recorded for this feature. The fill was a medium sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 3/3), with 5% chalk inclusions up to 3cm in diameter. Both charcoal and daub flecking were present, though infrequent.
