Pit
Phasing
No diagnostic finds were recovered from this feature. Stratigraphically,
it was sealed by material which formed
during the Anglian period, and it is likely that the pit is Anglian in
date.

Discussion
This pit was defined during the removal of layer 012AC00083,
part of the turf-filled depression in the centre of area 12AC. The fill
was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3), with very few chalk inclusions,
some of them quite large. Some charcoal flecking was noted. The only finds
were three animal bones.
The pit was cut into an earlier layer (012AC00095)
filling the depression, and had a U-shaped profile.
