Discussion

 The middle, and central in date, of three east/west aligned ditches in area 12AB. The south side of the ditch cut through primary cut 012AB00128 with the north side subsequently cut by ditch 012AB07194. All three ditches cut through north/south aligned ditches 012AB07192, 012AB07195 and 012AB00134. A post hole (012AB01025) cut through the eastern terminus. Two further ditches on the same alignment (012AB07197 and 012AB07198) lie to the north, probably all phases of the same type of enclosure pattern. The northern two have entrances but no evidence of a break in the southerly three ditches was present. The exact nature of the enclosures is difficult to determine due to the complexity of features in this area. It is likely these ditches formed the south side of a square enclosure; with the north/south ditches in areas 12AA and AC (the east and west sides, respectively) and the east/west ditches in the north of 12AB. The enclosure is almost certainly Anglian in date, possibly as late as Middle Saxon (based on stratigraphic evidence).
