Discussion

 This is a short ditch which contained only one fragment of charcoal and no animal bones. However, the two spits (012AA00086 and 012AA00133) which were taken off to help define this and the other features in the immediate area contained two stycas, both of which were immediately above this ditch. This, together with the spindle whorl which was found only centimetres to the west of the ditch, implies a Middle Saxon date for this feature. A stone setting (012AA00263) was present for 2 metres along the length of the ditch in the top of the fill, removed when segment 012AA00352 was excavated. The setting has been included in this document although it is probable it is a later feature than the ditch. Pit 012AA00192 and a post hole of master 012AA07179 were cut through the ditch.
