Unfortunately, few relationships were established during excavation. The ditches cut through a ditch (011BA00510), a slot (011BA00495) and two pits (011BA00499 and 011BA00767) and were cut by a Grubenhaus (011BA07005), two slots (011BA00049 and 011BA00771) and a pit (011BA00514). No other relationships were established. The relationships between the ditches were also, for the most part, not established. A north side ditch (011BA00129) appears to cut through an earlier phase (011BA00784), and the south/east ditch 011BA00226 was believed to be a re-cut of 011BA00235. Seven ditches were recovered from the section in the north/east corner of the enclosure with a probable eighth further to the south. The southern ditch of this section was excavated under the context 011BA00291 although the continuation of 011BA00291 was probably further south and not excavated (see photograph ). The west side was badly truncated by plough damage and it is possible that more phases were present.
A Middle Saxon dome-headed pin was recovered from context 011BA00502 but this was the only find specifically dated to the Middle Saxon period. The rest of the finds from the fills of the ditches vary in age from prehistoric to medieval (due to the presence of rig and furrow), with a total of 79 datable finds (15% Prehistoric, 42% Roman, 38% Anglian and 5% Medieval). The complex may have been established in the Roman period and continued through the following centuries, or the presence of Roman material throughout the area may be residual (from the increase in Roman activity to the south). The ditches certainly have a strong Anglian element that probably extended into the Middle Saxon period (burnt daub, usually an indicator of middle Saxon activity, was recovered from fills 011BA00225, 011BA00500, 011BA00504 and 011BA00515). Grubenhaus 011BA07005 contained burnt daub in the fill and is likely to be of Middle Saxon date. The structure cut through the inner enclosure ditch, indicating that the enclosure was either redundant by this period or that the structure was placed directly to the east of the outer enclosure ditch 011BA00716.
