The enclosure appears to be contemporary with the group of four Grubenhauser present. The western Grubenhaus (011BA07010) was cut by the inner enclosure ditch (011BA00202) and possibly also by the middle ditch (011BA00576) indicating either that the entire enclosure post-dates that particular structure or that the outer ditches are the earlier phases of the enclosure, enclosing a larger area. The south/east Grubenhaus (011BA07008) appears to have a direct stratigraphic relationship with the inner enclosure ditch (011BA00497) although geophysics indicates a more compact structure, either built directly on the back of the enclosure or belonging to a similar, earlier phase as structure 011BA07010.
Unfortunately, few relationships were established during excavation and no sections were drawn so the phasing of this enclosure remains speculative. The north/east side of the enclosure cut through a small pit (011BA00783) and two small slots (011BA00479 and 011BA00483). A NE/SW aligned ditch (011BA00640) almost certainly cuts through the south/west side of the enclosure ditches although this was not confirmed during excavation. Two ditches in the centre of the enclosure (011BA00578 and 011BA00580), parallel to the south/east ditches, are probably a sub-division rather than a substantial reduction of the size of the enclosure. Similarly, the two NW/SE aligned ditches (011BA00613 and 011BA00642) in the south/west corner seem to respect the confines of the enclosure and are probably contemporary with at least one phase.
Several small slots in the north of the enclosure are probably earlier features (the enclosure ditch cuts slots 011BA00479 and 011BA00483), possibly forming an earlier enclosure. Thirty-nine worked flints were recovered from the whole enclosure (including the enclosure ditches), indicating quite a high level of prehistoric activity in the area.
